Cyberjaya, Malaysia - The Center of Garage Malaysia (CoGMY) hosted the first Tech Garage Seminar on February 22nd, 2024 focused on novel inspection technologies. The seminar brought together 27 representatives from 13 local and international engineering and inspection companies, 3 universities, and 1 government agency for an afternoon of networking, presentations and demonstrations.
A highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between CAST Inc., a Japanese technology company, and Malaysian startup Beyond Horizon Technologies. The strategic partnership aims to expand sales, marketing and joint service development between the two companies in Asia.
"We are excited to collaborate with Beyond Horizon Technologies to bring our innovative wall thickness monitoring system to new markets," said Dr. Kei Nakatsuma, CEO of CAST Inc. "This partnership and the support from the Center of Garage Malaysia provide an ideal foundation to grow our business in Malaysia and beyond."
The MOU signing kicked off an agenda packed with insights from both companies. Dr. Kei Nakatsuma from CAST Inc. introduced their pipe wall reduction monitoring system which continually measures pipe wall thickness and deterioration. Following with that, Mr. Mohd Fadzly, Managing Director of Beyond Horizon, outlined their advanced drone technologies for remote inspections in the oil and gas industry and compared their method of inspection with CAST.
Following the presentations, attendees witnessed live demonstrations of CAST's pipe corrosion sensing software and data collection as well as Beyond Horizon's drones. It had been shown that both of the technology could compliment with each other and beneficial for the companies that want to have their pipe inspection service. The event concluded with networking amongst participants during a tour of the Center of Garage Malaysia facilities led by Acet Innovates CEO, Mr. Firdaus Erzani.
